About Writing Wales
Writing Wales is an independent website established with the aim of providing news, information and reviews on Anglophone Welsh writing. The field of Anglophone Welsh writing is vibrant and successful, widely studied in universities and colleges, both in the UK and internationally. Writing Wales aims to draw attention to key ideas in this diverse and rapidly expanding field
The website is non-profit making and is intended to provide information on interesting publications, websites and events relevant to contemporary Wales. Writing Wales hopes to bring a fresh contribution to the field, offering a place to find out more about recent publications and developments, considering emerging themes and questions raised by writing from Wales.
Writing Wales is run by Dr Emma Schofield, a Teacher in English Literature at Cardiff University, currently researching in the field of Anglophone Welsh writing.
What is Anglophone Welsh writing?
A very difficult question to answer and one which has been subject to countless debates throughout the twentieth and twenty-first century! Broadly speaking the term Anglophone Welsh writing covers any aspect of writing written by Welsh authors using the English language, subject matter does not have to be solely concerned with Wales. While the focus of Writing Wales is on English language publications, if you have a comment or link to a relevant publication or website in the Welsh language please feel free to get in touch.
