A new event on the literary calendar, the Penarth Book Festival will be taking place from Monday 29th October until Sunday 4th November. The week long series of events includes talks, readings, book signings, workshops and activities for children. Confirmed authors and artists include:

Gillian Clarke will be taking part in a poetry launch and reading at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Mold at 7.00 pm on Thursday 25th October. Tickets are just £6 (£5 for concessions) and further details are available from Literature Wales.
On Thursday 18th October Poets at the Dylan Thomas Centre will feature an evening with Bangor-born poet Rona Laycock. Graffiti magazine editor Laycock will be participating in the event which also includes an open-mic session.
Tickets are range from £1.60 - £4 and can be purchased through the DTC website or by calling 01792 463980. The Aber Valley Arts Festival kicks off this Saturday (13th) with a series of events designed to appeal to all ages. Over the course of the week the valley will play host to a range of events and exhibitions combining art, music and literature. Literary highlights will include poet Francesca Kay who will be taking part in a 'Wine and Words' evening on Monday 15th October.
More information can be found through Caerphilly Council's events pages. To mark the centenary of Bangor born writer, poet and artist Brenda Chamberlain, Damian Walford Davies and Gwen Davies will be participating in a discussion of her life and work in Ceredigion this Thursday.
