Poets Roger Garfitt and Paul Worthington will be taking part in an evening of contemporary poetry reading at The Hen and Chicks pub in Abergavenny on Tuesday 27th November. It all starts at 8pm and tickets are available on the door. The event is supported by Literature Wales

Tokens for the Foundlings (Seren Books) an anthology of poetry about childhood, edited by Tony Curtis, will be launched on Friday 23rd November in Waterstones, Cardiff at 6.15pm. The anthology features poems from some of the UK's best known poets such as Gillian Clarke, Carol Ann Duffy, Helen Dunmore, Stephen Knight, Don Paterson, Elaine Feinstein, Dannie Abse and Seamus Heaney.
A host of Welsh poetry stars will be taking part in the launch and reading from their work including Gillian Clarke, Paul Henry, Christopher Meredith, Mike Jenkins and more. Entry is free. The latest installments in Seren's fantastic series of books reinventing the stories from the Mabinogion for a modern day world will be launched at an evening in Waterstones, Aberystwyth on Tuesday 27th November at 7pm. Authors Lloyd Jones and Cynan Jones will be launching their titles See How They Run and Bird, Blood, Snow at the event.
Further details on the launch and the other titles available in the series are available here. The 2013 Cardiff International Poetry Competition is now open for entries. Poems must be written in the English language, 50 lines or less in length and unpublished. This year's judges are former poet laureate Andrew Motion, Wales' National Poet Gillian Clarke and Welsh poet Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch. This year's top prize is £5000, with runners up prizes ranging from £50 to £500. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Literature Wales website.
The Dylan Thomas Festival will join forces with The Crunch on Tuesday 6th November for 'Stuff Happens', an evening of poetry and art. Confirmed poets and artists include Rhys Owain Williams, Richard Jones, Georgia Carys Williams, Emily Vanderploeg, Claire Houguez and Howard Ingham.
Entry is free and includes a booksale which will also be taking place at 7pm in The Dylan Thomas Centre. Further information is available here. The Seren and Literature Wales organised series of literary evenings continues with Grahame Davies reading from his acclaimed poetry collection Lightening Beneath the Sea and Paul Binding who will be reading from his novel After Brock.
The evening takes place in Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff) at 7.30pm and tickets will be available on the door for just £2.50. |
