Thursday 25th April: Poets at the DTC (Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea) Join Emily Hinshelwood and Delyth Jenkins for Poets at the DTC on Thursday 25th April. Emily Hinshelwood’s new collection On Becoming a Fish was inspired by a series of walks around the 186 mile Pembrokeshire coastal path and her reading will be accompanied by Delyth Jenkins on harp. An open mic session will follow the reading and tickets range from £1.60 - £4 and can be booked through the Dylan Thomas Centre website.

Room presents a special evening of spoken word, music and visuals at the Gwdihŵ Café Bar in Cardiff at 8.30pm on Monday 22nd April. The event ‘aims to celebrate the greatness of words and language in a context where visuals and dialogue can intertwine’ and the first twenty arrivals are promised a free mega-goody bag. Join Rhian Edwards for an evening of spoken word, including poetry and prose readings at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre at 7.45pm on Friday 19th April. There will be an opportunity for open mic entrants to perform five minutes of their own materia during the evening, which will include guest readings from Niall Griffiths and Tiffany Atkinson. Tickets cost just £3 and can be booked online through the Arts Centre website.
The Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea will be the venue for an evening of poetry, music and discussion to mark the centenary of R.S. Thomas' birth. During the evening Professor M. Wynn Thomas will be launching his new
book, R.S. Thomas: Serial Obsessive, while Professor Tony Brown will introduce R.S. Thomas' Uncollected Poems, which he has edited with Jason Walford Davies. Responses to Thomas' work will be given in the form of poetry and music from Menna Elfyn and Brian Breeze. The evening, which is held in association with the University of Wales Press, will start at 7pm and entry is free. Further information can be obtained through the Dylan Thomas Centre website. The day will feature two sessions with a choice of workshops, one for those who are relatively new to writing and one for more experienced writers. A short writing competition will take place on the day, with prizes awarded in the afternoon. A number of authors based in Chepstow will be taking part in the day, including: Meg Kingstone, Robert Darke, Susan Hooper and P. D. Williams. The event will take place in the Drill Hall in Chepstow from 10am – 4pm and tickets are priced at £10 for two workshops. For further details about this event please visit the website.
This year’s annual Josef Herman Lecture entitled 'Irrepressible: The Life and Novels of Menna Gallie' will feature Angela John, Annest Wiliam and David Herman reading from Menna Gallie’s published and unpublished work.
