The winners of the Wales Book of the Year Award for 2015 were announced at a ceremony in Caernarfon last night. In the English language category Patrick McGuinness scooped the judges' top prize of Wales Book of the Year for Other People's Countries (Jonathan Cape), as well as winning the Creative Non-Fiction category. Cynan Jones won the Fiction Category with his novel The Dig (Granta), while Tiffany Atkinson was awarded the Roland Mathias Poetry Award for 2015, for her collection of poems exploring the body and spirit, So Many Moving Parts (Bloodaxe).
The Wales Arts Review People’s Choice Prize for 2015 was awarded to Jonathan Edwards for his poetry collection My Family and Other Superheroes (Seren).
In the Welsh language categories, the overall Welsh-language Wales Book of the Year Award was Gareth F. Williams's Awst yn Anogia (Gwasg Gwynedd), which also claimed the Fiction Category. The Poetry Category was won by Rhys Iorwerth for his collection Un Stribedyn Bach (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch), while Llŷr Gwyn Lewis was awarded the Creative Non-Fiction Award for Rhyw Flodau Rhyfel (Y Lolfa). The winner of Gwobr Barn y Bobl, the Welsh-language public vote, is Saith Oes Efa (Y Lolfa) by Lleucu Roberts.
